Years from now, when a young girl walks up to me and asks, "Wangari, why did you start Daughters of the Nation?" I hope I'll smile, look her in the eye and say, "I started Daughters of the Nation so that a child like you can know who you are before the world tells you who to become. So that one day, you'll instinctively reach for the hand of another child with less than you and show them how far they can fly. So that an elderly man living quietly in the remotest part of this country can be be reminded that he is still worthy of every love there is to give. I started Daughters of the Nation because I wanted to redefine what humanity looks like." If you're looking for another humanitarian organisation, you may have come to the wrong place. Who We Are
Humanity Reimagined
People often assume Daughters of the Nation is a women's movement.
It isn't.
It is a movement shaped by a feminine approach to humanity—one that chooses compassion over indifference, dignity over pity, and presence over performance.
We call ourselves Daughters not because men stand outside the movement, but because we believe the world needs more of what the feminine has always naturally carried: nurture, courage, restoration and love.
The men who walk this journey with us are not spectators. They are our brothers, leaders, mentors and protectors. They build, they serve and they lead alongside us.
Daughters of the Nation isn't building women.
It's reimagining what humanity can look like when we choose to lead with love.
